Article 116: Human Rights Commission
Chapter VIII - Institutions Supporting Democracy·~1 min read
There shall be in and for the Cayman Islands a Human Rights Commission whose primary responsibility shall be the promotion of understanding and observance of human rights in the Cayman Islands.
The Commission shall consist of a Chairman and four other members appointed by the Governor after consulting the Premier and the Leader of the Opposition.
The Commission shall have power to receive and investigate complaints of breaches of rights, provide advice, mediate disputes, and issue reports on human rights matters.
The Commission shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other person or authority.
