Article 5: Personal Liberty

No person shall be deprived of his or her personal liberty save as may be authorised by law in specified circumstances.
Any person who is arrested or detained shall be informed promptly of the reasons for his or her arrest or detention and shall be entitled to communicate with a legal practitioner of his or her choice.
Any person who is arrested or detained and is not tried within a reasonable time shall be released either unconditionally or upon reasonable conditions to ensure that the person appears for trial at a later date.
