Article 39: Powers of Pardon

The Governor may, in Her Majesty's name and on Her Majesty's behalf: grant to any person convicted of any offence a pardon, either free or subject to lawful conditions; grant to any person a respite of the execution of any punishment imposed on that person for such offence; substitute a less severe form of punishment for that imposed by any sentence; or remit the whole or any part of any sentence of imprisonment or any fine, penalty or forfeiture due to the Crown.
