Article 69: Power to Provide for a Referendum

The Legislature may, by resolution of the Legislative Assembly supported by a majority of the elected members, authorise the holding of a referendum on any matter of national importance.
Any matter relating to the status of the Cayman Islands as regards independence shall be deemed to be a matter of national importance.
